Need advice on getting baby to sleep through the night? Do you commit any of these 3 bad habits? Breaking them now will help propel you and your little one towards sleeping through the night peacefully.
Bad Habit #1: Putting Baby to Bed With Bottle
Putting baby to bed with a bottle can present a couple of issues. For one, it can create a crutch effect which can interfere with baby learning to sleep through the night on their own. It can also present a choking hazard, as well as contribute to tooth decay if filled with juice or milk. Be sure to address baby's thirst needs prior to being put to bed to help alleviate the need for the bottle.
Bad Habit #2: Rocking Baby to Sleep
Any activity that puts baby to sleep, such as nursing, rocking, singing, or simply staying in the room can prolong baby's ability to go to sleep on their own. Ideally, baby should be relaxed and slightly sleepy, but awake when laid to bed. This will help baby become adept at getting to sleep on their own without any external assistance.
Bad Habit #3: Rushing Into Baby's Room at Every Sound
Babies cry, whimper, and fuss naturally throughout the night in their sleep, and usually for only a few minutes, if that. By rushing into baby's room at every sound you run the risk of waking up your little one completely, and/or establishing a pattern to where baby begins to expect you to come in order for them to get back to sleep. If you don't allow your little one the chance to get back to sleep on their own, it will take longer than necessary for them to learn.
If you are guilty of committing these 3 bad habits, don't worry, help is right around the corner. For the best advice on getting baby to sleep through the night visit and begin enjoying your restful nights.
